Planning a purple theme party

Deep purple with gold or silver looks rich and works for 18th, 21st and 30th birthdays or a royal theme. Lilac and light purple are softer, so they suit fairy, unicorn and mermaid parties as well as baby showers. For purple birthday decorations that look finished, repeat the colour at three levels: the tablecover, a foil curtain at eye level, and confetti or shredded paper on the table. Allow about two napkins per guest and a smaller plate for cake.
