Which glue to use for which job

Glue sticks are the tidy choice for paper and light card. PVA suits collage and loose glitter: brush a thin layer, sprinkle, then tip the excess onto scrap paper and back into the tub. Tacky glue grabs pom poms, felt and pop sticks, and fabric glue is made for fabric. A glue gun handles heavier pieces like foam and wood, but the nozzle gets hot, so adults should run it. Check the stick width your gun takes before buying refills; ours are 1.1cm.
