Costume Props

Costume props are the small handheld pieces that make a character obvious, and our range has more than 65 of them, priced from $2.50 to $34.99. There are badges, stethoscopes, parasols, canes, pom poms, wands and play money for dress-up days and themed parties. The Base Warehouse has been stocking dress-up accessories since 1989, so there is a prop for most occupations and eras.

What is in the costume props range

Police and sheriff looks use the Silver Police Badge ($4.49), Metal Police Badge in Black Wallet ($11.99), Silver Small Sheriff Badge and Walkie Talkie Set. Doctors and nurses get the Doctors And Nurses Stethoscope Costume Kit ($7.99), Nurse Doctor Red Stethoscope and the Jumbo Thermometer. Parasols come in light orange, light blue, purple, black and white, and walking canes in 70cm and 100cm. Cheerleaders can pick 2 Pack Cheerleader Pom Pom - 80g sets in gold, silver, red, purple and hot pink at $2.50, or 38cm vinyl pom poms. There are also fairy puff wands, the Wizard Magic Wand, 12 Pack Pirate Gold Coins, Phoney Hundred Dollar Bills, the Giant Brown Caveman Club and steampunk bits like the 12 Pack Bag of Steampunk Keys and Bag of Gears.

How to build a costume around a prop

Work backwards from the prop. A stethoscope and a white shirt already say doctor; a badge, a walkie talkie and a dark top say police. A cane and parasol turn a plain dress or suit into a vintage outfit, and pom poms in the team colour do most of a cheerleader or sports carnival look. See the police and emergency services range and the pirate range for outfits.
