Using it without ruining the costume

Test any blood on a hidden corner of the garment first, because light fabrics can stain permanently. On skin, a small amount at the corner of the mouth and down the chin reads better in photos than a full coverage job. Keep it well clear of eyes, and wash it out of fabric the same night rather than leaving it to set.
