It is mostly dress-up, from full suits and dresses to hats, ties, gloves and lashes, with a circus party pack and a few novelty extras. The Base Warehouse has been kitting out costume parties across New South Wales since 1989.

What is in the clown range

The two main outfits are the Deluxe Clown Suit - OSFM at $35.99 and the Yellow Clown Dress at $41.99. Build a look around them with the Adult Jumbo Long Clown Tie, a Polka Dot Bowler Hat or Clown Polka Dot Baseball Cap, Clown Gloves With Pom Poms - 27.3cm x 15cm and Jumbo Rainbow Clown Eyelashes. For a harlequin style there is the Adults Harlequin Clown Garter with Gem at $14.99. Party hosts can add the Circus Theme Party Pack at $17.99 and a Mardi Gras Male Jointed Jester.

How to put together a clown costume

Start with one base outfit, then add three accessories: a hat, a tie or garter, and gloves. That is enough to read as a clown from across the room. Bright primary colours and polka dots do the work, so plain red, yellow or blue clothes from home can stand in for a full suit. For a circus birthday, set out the party pack and hang the jointed jester near the entry. Our rainbow party supplies pair well for bright balloons and tableware, and there are more ideas in our themed party range.
