Money Boxes

Money boxes at The Base Warehouse are a tight edit of 10 coin banks, priced from $2.50 to $49.99. They are a fun way to get kids saving, and the pewter pieces make a keepsake gift for a new baby or christening.

What is in the money boxes range

For a keepsake, the Pewter Plate Bear Money Bank ($35.99) and the Pewter Plate Rocking Horse Money Bank ($29.99) are both 10cm. The retro metal pieces suit a teenager's room or a garage: the Metal Telephone Box Coin Bank at 27.5cm ($49.99), the Iron Petrol Pump Money Box at 13cm x 36cm x 12cm ($47.99) and the Metal Robot Money Bank ($11.99). For fun, there is the Game Console Money Bank ($8.99), the Cowboy Boot Money Box ($11.99), the Karma Kritters Money Box ($14.99) and the Resin Daisy Money Bank ($9.99). The Currency Design Money Tin is $2.50.

How to choose a money box

Think about who it is for and how the money comes out. For younger children, pick something light and easy to hold, and check how it opens before you wrap it so they can see their savings grow. A heavier metal or iron money box suits a shelf where it will stay put, and the petrol pump and telephone box double as decor in a man cave. Pewter keepsakes are best kept on display rather than played with, and a gift tag with the date turns them into a memento to sit alongside other family keepsakes. To build the habit, agree on a goal, count the coins each month and bank the total once the box is full.
