How to choose hangers and airers

Use one hanger style through a wardrobe so shoulders line up and the rail looks tidy. Velvet hangers suit shirts and dresses, wooden hangers suit coats and jackets, and clip hangers hold skirts and pants without folds. Kids' 29cm hangers stop small tops stretching at the neck. Before buying an airer, measure your laundry or balcony and compare it with the dimensions in each listing; winged and folding airers pack flat when not in use. A pegs airer is handy for socks and underwear, and over door hooks keep towels, bags and dressing gowns off the floor.
