Messages & Signs

Signs and plaques are the quickest way to put some personality on a wall, a shelf or a gift table. The Base Warehouse has more than 130 messages and signs, priced from $2.50 to $71.99, covering sentiment plaques, retro metal signs and garden wording. We have been stocking homewares and gifts since 1989.

What is in the signs and plaques range

The main group is the Ceramic Piece Of My Heart hanging plaques at $9.99, made for Mum, Grandma, Dad, Daughter, Big Sister and dog breeds including Kelpie, Cavoodle, Border Collie and French Bulldog. The Flower Market Ceramic Sentiment Plaques (12cm x 14cm, $14.99) come in Love, Home, Family and Thank You, and the Zodiac Block Plaques (20cm x 25cm, $29.99) cover the star signs. For the shed there are 30cm x 40cm corrugated metal signs such as Castrol Motor Oil ($21.99), EH Holden Blue Garage and US Route66 The Mother Road. Larger pieces include the Cinnamon Family Is Everything Block Plaque (40cm x 40cm, $59.99) and White Welcome Word Birds.

How to choose and hang signs and plaques

Start with where it will live. A small ceramic plaque suits a bedside table, bookshelf or hook by the door, while a 30cm x 40cm metal sign needs a clear stretch of wall in a garage, bar or man cave. When grouping several, mix sizes and keep the gaps even so the words read as one display. For gifts, match the wording to the person first and the style second: a dog breed plaque for a new pet owner, a zodiac plaque for a birthday. Pair signs with other wall decor or family decor and ornaments to fill a hallway or entry.
