How to burn incense safely

Match the incense to the holder. Sticks need a holder or ash catcher long enough to catch falling ash, cones sit in a dish or cone holder, and backflow cones, the ones with a hole in the base, are made for backflow burners. Light the tip, let it catch for a few seconds, then blow out the flame so it smoulders. Always use a heat-proof holder on a stable surface, keep it away from curtains, burn in a ventilated room and never leave burning incense unattended.
