How to choose hoses, fittings and garden tools

Measure from the tap to your furthest bed before buying a hose, then round up. Check your tap thread first: a Hose Brass Tap Adapter - 12mm ($3.99) or Tap Nut Adaptor ($2.50) solves most mismatches. Drip irrigation suits pots and veggie beds because water goes to the roots, not the path. Use hand pruners for soft stems and long handle secateurs when you need reach. Wipe blades after use, store the hose coiled out of the sun, and tip water out of pot saucers after heavy rain.
