How to choose a small or mini cake tin

Mini cake tins around 10cm to 12.5cm suit smash cakes, bento cakes and the top tier of a stacked cake. A 15cm cake tin is a favourite for small celebration cakes that still look tall once layered. Deeper 7.5cm sides give you taller layers, while a springform makes cheesecakes easy to release. If you swap to a different tin size, adjust the batter quantity and check the cake a little earlier, as smaller cakes bake faster. Line the base with baking paper or a liner, fill no more than about two thirds and let it cool before turning out.
