How to choose a cupcake tower or tiered cake stand

Count your cupcakes first, then pick the tiers: a 3 tier cake stand suits a small party, while a 4 tier stand spreads out a bigger batch. For a whole cake, choose a plate wider than the cake board so the edge of the icing is not hanging over. Clear acrylic stands suit any theme; gold, silver and striped ones add colour. People searching for cardboard cake stands usually want something light for one event, so compare the Kraft and Eco options. Assemble tiered stands on the table where they will be served, then load from the bottom up.
