How to set up and look after your BBQ kit

Long tongs and skewers keep your hands further from the heat, so a 35cm tong and 45cm skewers are the pair to start with. Keep one brush for the grill bars and a flat scraper for the hotplate, and clean while the plate is still warm, because fat lifts off far more easily before it sets. A hotplate liner under marinated meat saves scrubbing later. Refill blow torch lighters following the directions on the pack, and store them away from the barbecue itself.
