What to keep in a basic household toolkit

A hammer, a ratchet driver with a bit set, a spirit level, a utility knife, cable ties, duct tape and a few removable hooks will handle most small jobs around the house. Before buying globes, check the base of the old one: B22 is a bayonet push-and-twist fitting and E27 screws in. Match battery sizes (AA, AAA, C, D or 9V) to the device before you head out. For picture hanging, check the weight rating on the hook or tape against the frame. For cockroach and fly traps, read the label and follow its directions.
