How to plan decorations for any event

Start with the date. Valentine's Day is 14 February, Easter falls in March or April, Mother's Day is the second Sunday in May and Father's Day is the first Sunday in September in Australia, while showers, engagements and weddings run to your own calendar. Pick two or three colours and buy everything in that scheme so the room looks planned. For 20 guests, allow three 8 packs of plates and cups, two 16 packs of napkins, one feature foil balloon for the table or entry and a bag of latex balloons for the rest of the room. A banner behind the cake or gift table gives photos a backdrop. Fill gaps from our everyday party supplies and foil balloons. Order a week or two ahead so there is time to swap anything that does not suit.
