How to build a dinner set that works

Count one dinner plate, one side plate and one bowl per person, then add two of each as spares for breakages and guests. White plates are the easiest base: they suit any food and mix with coloured side plates such as the Canopy range, so you can change the look without replacing everything. Measure your cupboard before buying, since a 26cm plate and a 26.67cm plate may not stack in the same spot. Melamine plates are handy for outdoor entertaining. Wash timber serving boards by hand and dry them straight away rather than leaving them to soak.
