How to style cushions on a sofa or bed

Build from the back. Put 55cm or 60cm squares against the arms or bed head, then a 45cm or 50cm layer, then a 30cm x 50cm lumbar or a bolster at the front. Odd numbers look more relaxed than a matching pair. Pick one or two colours from the room, such as a rug or artwork, and repeat them, then vary the texture with linen, velvet and pompom.
